In 2010, during the peak of the recession, Liz Etheredge was promoted as the majority owner (51% or more). This was due to several larger clients asking us to become WBENC Certified (Women Business Enterprise National Council). This certification is a prestigious recognition for women-owned businesses in the US. Corporate partners focus on diversity in suppliers and support the growth of women-owned businesses. Howard and Liz made the swap and we are proud to have been re-certified every year since 2010. Today, Liz is 100% owner of Mecklenburg Paint and continues to be an inspiring leader for our team! She is highly active in many programs and organizations that empower women, including but not limited to: CREW, Ronald McDonald House - Charlotte, and Charlotte Business Journal’s Mentor Monday.

Liz, owner of Mecklenburg Paint Company, Inc. involved in Dress for Success, a campaign that helps women get back into the workforce and make better lives for themselves and their families. On March 22nd, 2023 she was on 16 digital billboards around Charlotte for one day only! It was a fun day!
